Where You Are

The Road From Our Shop Is Literally Called Dallas Highway

GA-120 runs east out of Paulding County and into Marietta, and for most of that distance it is signed as Dallas Highway — named for the town our shop sits in. It is about twenty miles door to door, on one road, which is why Cobb County has been part of our patch from the start.

Marietta itself is a different proposition from the subdivisions west of it. The city has a historic square, five National Register districts and a housing stock whose median build year in the historic core is around 1975. That changes what we find when we open the garage.

Local Detail

Why Older Marietta Doors Are a Different Job

Much of Marietta's housing dates from between 1970 and 1999, with Craftsman and Colonial Revival homes older still. The hardware in those garages is not what we find in a 2005 subdivision.

Extension springs, not just torsion

Older and narrower doors often run extension springs — the long springs stretched along the horizontal tracks — rather than a torsion bar above the opening. They need containment cables run through them so that a broken spring cannot whip across the garage. If yours has none, we fit them.

Detached garages and single bays

A lot of Marietta homes have a detached garage or a narrow single-car opening rather than an attached double. Smaller doors are not automatically simpler: low headroom, older track profiles and out-of-square timber framing all make the fit fussier.

Appearance actually matters here

In and around the historic districts a replacement door has to suit the house, and there may be neighbourhood or district expectations about how it looks. Carriage-house styling on a modern insulated steel door is usually the way to square that circle. We will bring options rather than one catalogue page.

Openers that pre-date the sensor requirement

Photo-eye sensors have been required on openers made since 1 January 1993. In housing this age we still come across units older than that, with no external entrapment protection. Those get replaced, not patched.

Obsolete parts and honest answers about them

Some hardware on a forty-year-old door is no longer made. Often the modern equivalent fits straight on; occasionally it genuinely does not, and then the choice is a section or a new door. We would rather tell you that on the phone than after a call-out.

Timber doors that have taken on weight

An original wooden door absorbs moisture through a Georgia summer and gets heavier as it ages. Springs balanced to it when new are no longer matched to what it now weighs, so the door drifts, drops or strains the opener. Re-balancing to the real weight is part of the job.

What We Fix

Every Garage Door Job in Marietta

The same three trades make up most of the week, whichever town the van is in. Full detail is on each service page.

How It Goes

Three Steps, Same Day

Most Marietta calls are handled the day you ring.

1

Tell us what it's doing

The noise, roughly how wide the door is, and whether the spring sits above the opening or along the tracks. That is usually enough for a free quote over the phone.

2

A local tech drives out

One of our own technicians, not a call-centre subcontractor, coming across on GA-120 — the road signed Dallas Highway with springs, rollers, cables and opener parts already on board.

3

Flat price, then the work

You approve a written price before anything is touched. The diagnostic fee comes off the bill when you go ahead, and the door is balance- and safety-tested before we leave.

Common Jobs

The Garage Door Repairs We Handle Most in Marietta

Older Cobb County doors bring their own work — extension springs, tired hardware, and replacements that have to suit the house.

Finished garage door replacement on a suburban Georgia home
Curb-Appeal ReplacementThe garage door is the biggest thing on the front of most houses. An insulated replacement is quieter and more secure as well as better looking.
High-cycle galvanized torsion springs ready for a garage door spring replacement
High-Cycle Spring ReplacementSprings are rated in cycles, not years. We fit them in matched pairs and re-balance the door by hand before testing the opener.
Garage door rollers and track being serviced and realigned
Roller & Track ServiceWorn steel rollers are the usual cause of a loud door. Sealed nylon rollers and a straightened track make most doors dramatically quieter.

Marietta Garage Door Questions

What Cobb County customers ask us, particularly on older homes.

You are based in Paulding County — do you really cover Marietta?+
Yes, and the drive is simpler than people expect. GA-120 runs from our side of Paulding straight into Marietta and is signed Dallas Highway for much of it — about twenty miles on one road. Cobb County has been part of our service area since we started.
My garage has long springs along the ceiling tracks, not a bar above the door. Is that a problem?+
Those are extension springs and they are common on older and narrower doors. They work perfectly well, but they must have a safety containment cable running through the middle of each spring, so that if one breaks it cannot fly across the garage. If yours do not have them, we fit them as part of the repair.
Can you work on a garage door in a historic district?+
We repair doors anywhere in Marietta. On a replacement in or near one of the historic districts, appearance matters and there may be local expectations about what is appropriate, so it is worth checking with the city or your neighbourhood association before ordering. Carriage-house styling on an insulated steel door usually gives the period look with modern hardware behind it.
My door is from the 1970s. Can you still get parts for it?+
Usually yes. Springs, cables, drums, bearings, rollers and track are all still available in the sizes those doors used, and modern hardware often fits an older door directly. Where a specific part is genuinely obsolete we will say so and set out the options honestly, rather than driving out and telling you at the door.
Is a detached garage harder to sort out than an attached one?+
Not harder, just different. Detached garages tend to be older, with narrower openings, lower headroom and timber framing that has moved over the years, so the track alignment needs more care. Power supply is worth mentioning when you call, since some older detached garages have very little of it.
