Where You Are

Two ZIP Codes, Two Very Different Jobs

Kennesaw sits in Cobb County either side of I-75, about nineteen miles from our base at 132 Azalea Lakes Dr in Dallas — a straight run across on GA-92 or Cedarcrest Road. It was called Big Shanty from the 1830s until 1887, when it took the name of the mountain, and it has grown into one of the larger towns on this side of the metro.

What makes Kennesaw different from the other towns we cover is not the housing stock; it is the ownership. Between Kennesaw State University and the townhome developments that grew up around it, a real share of the doors here are on rented property, with a landlord approving the work and a tenant on site. That changes how a call runs, and we would rather set it up properly at the start than turn up to a house where nobody knows who is authorising anything.

The rest is familiar: large subdivisions from the growth years, mostly HOA-governed, mostly two-car, mostly on their second or third set of springs.

Local Detail

Why Kennesaw Doors Fail When They Do

Two patterns run through the calls we take here, and they come from opposite ends of the market.

Rental doors get more cycles and less attention

A door in a shared house near the university gets opened far more often than a family's, by people who are not going to report a noise to anybody. Nothing gets looked at until it stops, which is why rental-property calls tend to arrive as full failures rather than as symptoms.

Subdivision springs at the end of their rated life

Standard torsion springs are rated around 10,000 cycles — roughly seven years at four or five openings a day. The subdivisions that went up here through the growth years are well past that, and a lot of doors are on their second set with the third due.

Opener drive gears from the same era

The chain and belt openers fitted with those doors fail at the plastic drive gear long before the motor does. A motor that hums or runs while the door sits still is a gear kit, not a new opener, and we will say so rather than quote the unit.

Townhome doors are single, and worked hard

A lot of the townhome stock here has single doors on narrow driveways, which get reversed onto, nudged, and closed onto whatever is behind them more than a wide double on an open drive ever does. Bottom sections and photo eyes take the brunt.

The Georgia temperature swing

Steel springs fail on the change more often than mid-cycle. A long humid summer followed by the first hard cold night is when the bang comes, and it is frequently at two or three in the morning. One of several reasons the phone is answered around the clock.

Photo eyes knocked out of line

The safety sensors sit about six inches off the floor either side of the opening, which is precisely where bikes, bins and mower handles catch them. A door that reverses for no reason is usually two minutes of realignment.

What We Fix

Every Garage Door Job in Kennesaw

Six trades make up almost the whole week. Each has a page of its own with the detail and the safety notes.

How It Goes

Three Steps, Same Day

Most Kennesaw calls are handled the day you ring, tenant on site or not.

1

Tell us what it's doing — and who's there

The noise, roughly how wide the door is, and whether the spring sits above the opening or along the tracks. If it is a rental, tell us who is on site and who is approving the work.

2

A local tech drives out

One of our own technicians, not a call-centre subcontractor, coming across on GA-92 with springs, cables, rollers and opener parts already on board.

3

Flat price, then the work

You approve a written price before anything is touched, and it goes to whoever is paying. No call-out charge either way, and the door is balance- and safety-tested before we leave.

Loaded truck and a straight run across, so most Kennesaw calls are finished on the first visit.

High-cycle galvanized torsion springs ready for a garage door spring replacement
High-Cycle Spring ReplacementSprings are rated in cycles, not years. We fit them in matched pairs and re-balance the door by hand before testing the opener.
Garage door opener motor unit being repaired and replaced
Opener Repair & ReplacementGrinding, beeping, or dead? Often it’s the gear, the logic board or a mis-aligned safety sensor — not the whole unit.
Garage door rollers and track being serviced and realigned
Roller & Track ServiceWorn steel rollers are the usual cause of a loud door. Sealed nylon rollers and a straightened track make most doors dramatically quieter.

Kennesaw Garage Door Questions

What people in Kennesaw and the surrounding parts of Cobb County actually ring up and ask.

How quickly can you get to Kennesaw?+
Kennesaw is about nineteen miles from our shop at 132 Azalea Lakes Dr in Dallas, which is a straightforward run across on GA-92 or Cedarcrest Road. Most Kennesaw calls are same-day, and because we are open 24 hours there is a real person on the phone overnight and at weekends rather than an answering service taking a message for Monday.
Do you cover both Kennesaw ZIP codes?+
Yes, 30144 and 30152, and the unincorporated parts of Cobb County that carry a Kennesaw mailing address without sitting inside the city limits. The 30144 ZIP in particular is far larger than the city itself and reaches toward Acworth and the university, so the mailing address is a poor guide to the boundary. Give us the street address and we will confirm it in a second.
I'm a landlord, not the occupant. Can you deal with the tenant directly?+
Yes, and a fair number of our Kennesaw calls work exactly that way. Tell us who is on site and who is approving the work, and we will quote to you, arrange access with them, and send the written price and the invoice to you rather than to the tenant. We would rather agree that up front than turn up and find nobody knows who is authorising the job.
My HOA has rules about how the door looks. Does that affect a repair?+
Not for a repair, no. Springs, cables, rollers, openers and track are all hardware nobody outside the garage ever sees, and none of it changes the appearance of the door. It only matters when a panel or a whole door is being replaced, where the colour and the panel profile have to match what the covenants allow. If you are replacing rather than repairing, check the covenants before you choose a door and we will work to whatever they permit.
Is there a charge for coming out?+
Quotes over the phone are free, and so is the visit. If a technician needs to come out to diagnose the fault there is no call-out charge and no diagnostic fee — you get a firm written price, and if you decide not to go ahead you owe us nothing for the trip. Estimates for a brand-new door fitted at your home are free too.
